On the 14th this month, Computerworld published an interesting article titled ‘Mafiaboy’ spills the beans at IT360 on underground hackers
. Interesting read but nothing too exciting.
The article is yet another proof that we are all in big trouble. Simply put, the technology will continue to develop and the majority of people wont be able to keep up. As long as the situation remains the same, people and corporations will get exploited regardless how tight their security is. It is inevitable. At the end of the day, it is all about people, not technology.
Social engineering skills has been a major part of the hacker’s toolkit for ages and the situation is unlikely to change. The humans are still the weakest link and that is something that can only be fixed through education and by continuously rising awareness.
I aggree, it’s human nature to trust, it’s also human nature to exploit the exploitable.
