Stanley is a Web2.0 Hacker. Who told you that his kung fu is not real? Let’s have a look at the the following video clips, shall we? On the left, we have Stan wildly hacking his Hydra/worm on some sort of hacker GUI. On the right, you see a video of Microsoft Popfly that I mashed together with Movie Maker. Can you spot the differences? Apart from the cigars and the wine, there aren’t many? So, I guess Stanley was using Microsoft Popfly after all and his Hydra/worm was nothing more but a cross-domain AJAX malware.

What is Popfly?

Popfly is the fun, easy way to build and share mashups, gadgets, Web pages, and applications. Popfly consists of two parts:

  1. Popfly Creator is a set of online visual tools for building Web pages and mashups.
  2. Popfly Space is an online community of creators where you can host, share, rate, comment and even remix creations from other Popfly users.

In simple words, Popfly is Microsoft’s initiative to create a Pipe’s and Google’s like killer mashup development environment. As I mentioned on several occasions, mashup technology will change the Web and the Internet landscape for good or bad. Being a security expert, I see more bad then good but this is another story.

Anyway, hacking in the movies can be just like real hacking but without the cigars, the wine and the funky music… What the heck, why not? Next time I hack into Popfly, I am going to get a bottle of wine, light up a Cuban Havana cigar and put some wild tracks on. Let’s see, shall we?…
